Job Title: Occupational Health Advisor
Department: Thorlabs Occupational Health & Wellbeing Department
Location: Ely
About Us: At Thorlabs, we prioritize the health and wellbeing of our workforce. We are establishing a proactive on-site occupational health service aimed at enhancing employee health and productivity. As we set up this service, we are seeking a dedicated Occupational Health Advisor to join our team and play a pivotal role in its development.
Responsibilities:
Service Development: Spearhead the establishment of the occupational health and wellbeing service, collaborating with Human Resources and Health & Safety teams to ensure high standards of healthcare provision.
Employee Support: Provide effective support and advice to enhance employee health and wellbeing, including conducting health assessments, managing cases, and facilitating return-to-work plans.
Policy Development: Contribute to the development and review of occupational health policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
Health Promotion: Implement health promotion initiatives and programs to prevent health issues and promote physical and mental wellbeing among employees.
Data Analysis: Analyze health-related data to identify trends and issues, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders to inform decision-making.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong clinical competence and knowledge of relevant legislation.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Responsive, adaptable, and able to work independently or collaboratively.
- Strong planning, organizing, and attention to detail.
- Working understanding of relevant employment law in an occupational health context.
- Competence in case management and providing advice on the impact of work on health.
Experience:
- Previous experience in Occupational Health, preferably in a Manufacturing environment.
- Experience in policy development, case management, and health promotion.
- Familiarity with health surveillance programs and data analysis.
