Job title Occupational Health Nurse One-sentence description Occupational Health nurses protect and promote the health of people at work. What will they do? - Develop and implement health and safety programmes. These are disease prevention programmes, such as smoking cessation, exercise, and healthy eating programmes.
- Document all employee injuries and illnesses within the workplace and identify and prevent work-related health problems. This might be achieved in a range of ways:
- Promoting healthy living and working conditions
- Understanding the effects of work on health
- Providing advice on first aid management
- Providing health screening services for the workforce
- Monitoring workplaces that may require health needs assessments.
- Take responsibility for education, training, counselling and supporting travel health.
Role requirements Degree in Nursing (RGN)
Registered with the NMC and valid live pin
Worked in the occupation health field for 5 years
Significant experience as a nurse
Preferred: SCPHN – Specialist Community Public Health Nursing
